Great Festival for Labor Day weekend

What a gem! This is a fantastic museum. It has been wonderfully maintained and they do a fascinating tour of the mill. The lady who did our tour was really friendly and knowledgeable. If you go through the area seriously consider checking out the museum. They appreciate donations but do not charge so it will not cost you a while lot to learn about the mill. It is great that the person who owns the place makes it available for others to experience.

This is a fantastic place to tour. Every year on Labor Day weekend the mill has the Cleveland Roller Mill Fest. This is the time to visit. There are vendors with all kinds of neat items to purchase and there is great food. They setup a small stage and have live music and sometimes dancing. The best part is that the mill is actually running and you can go on an extremely enlightening guided tour of the mill. It is amazing. (The machinery is dangerous so little kids are not advised on this tour.) The waterwheel is turning and running all the mechanics of the mill. You can't believe how it all is made and works. The guys who build these mills were genius! We have gone twice and had a great time both times. I even took my Mom the second time and she loved it. Down the road a ways east is a place where you can pick raspberries, so make a day of it!

Great little Museum with history of the area illustrated with photos, maps and written texts. Santa Fe Trail, Cimmaron Cutoff. Economics of 1800 to 1870's and a fascinating, working Steel Roller Mill.

If you are driving through the Mora valley or are in the area you should make a stop at the Cleveland Roller Mill. It is interesting to see how different life was like in the Mora Valley back during the glory days of the 1800s.
